Our rescue was founded as a result of an overwhelming amount of stray cats and kittens in West TX. So after years of experience & education in the field of Veterinary Medicine, Rescue Work & TNR previously in Tallahassee FL, our founder decided to "make things official" and continue the work under a 501.3c of her own with hopes of being able to grow it at a larger scale under a nonprofit rather than just personally.
At Alley Cats Rescue our mission is to help decrease the overpopulation numbers of stray cats in West Texas through TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) and Adoptions when behaviorally possible. With a special interest in medical cases when funds allow it. As a rescue who heavily relies on foster homes our goals also include providing a positive fostering experience by providing supplies, advice & support to our foster homes.
Our team is made up of experienced professionals who are dedicated to TNR and Rescue Work. With over a decade of experience in the veterinary medicine field between our team members, we are equipped to make safe and smart decisions. With an emphasis on always continuing our education on, and making decisions based on, what's best for the animals in our rescue. Our team is also responsible for the successful TNR(Trap, Neuter, Return) of over 150 cats in FL before a move to TX.

My name is Gabby and rescue is my passion! Ever since I was a child I knew I wanted to help animals in need. I was bringing home stray animals constantly, asked for donations for our local animal shelter instead of birthday presents as a 10 year old, begged my parents to let us foster at age 12, etc. etc. Now I foster both dogs and cats (and sometimes birds) with my fiancé and TNR local feral cats in my free time. After volunteering and working for multiple rescues over the years I have made the decision to start my own with the goals of helping cats and kittens in need in Odessa & eventually the surrounding areas, and helping reduce the over population through TNR.

I have always had a passion for helping animals, at age 9 I began shadowing Dr. Patricia Novey D.V.M one Saturday a month and it ignited a deep love and appreciation for the field of "vet med". High school chemistry made my dreams of becoming a veterinarian shift to dreams of working in the field in other ways & 9 years later I returned to that same clinic as a receptionist. Since then I have continued working in the field as a reception manager, technician, shelter employee & medical supervisor of a local rescue. Each of these positions, and the experiences from fostering and volunteering for local rescues for over half my life have given me the tools and experience to safely and productively run a rescue.

In 2024 I was tired of seeing the number of unfixed cats in Tallahassee FL and surrounding areas and was finally in a home that allowed for the safe housing of recovering trapped cats. Luckily in Tallahassee there is a voucher program that allows for free or cheap TNR so all I had to do was trap, transport & recover the cats I caught. Between myself and loaning out my traps I was able to TNR over 100 cats and prevent a BUNCH of unwanted litters. After getting lots of experience in doing this in the small and large scale, and watching the decrease in population myself I gained a great passion for continuing the work of TNR especially in areas of great need like West Texas.
